Re: [MMUG] Re: Help - GoogleMail

I wouldn't change the old account settings, just add it as a new account for the IMAP details. Your old POP account should be left as is, perhaps just turning off the 'Include this account when checking for new mail' in the account prefs. You could move it to a 'local mailbox' if you really want to

Re: [MMUG] Re: Help - GoogleMail

Re:co, Thanks for your reply. How do I set IMAP to “You can make IMAP accounts move or copy messages to local inboxes if you want offline browsing” I don’t want to rely on historical mail being only on the server? Also if I change the emails accounts from POP to IMAP, will all the

Re: [MMUG] Re: Flashing question mark!

Carbon Copy & SuperDuper! are designed to give you a bootable copy of everything. I'd only clone to another blank drive since you risk overwriting the TM backup out with incorrect settings. I would be tempted to manually copy important files & folders over to a new folder on the TM disk. So at least you have them in a form

Re: [MMUG] Re: Flashing question mark!

Quick question. I'm due to take the iMac in to the store tomorrow. They say that as I have a full backup on an external drive, that will be all I need to reinstall my stuff if HD is replaced. However, following your advice, I've installed Carbon Copy Cloner, but find I don't have a hard drive big enough to clone on to. My question is,

Re: [MMUG] Re: Netbooks running OS X

I put 10.4 on an Eeepc 900. Ran fine except for the sound drivers, though i'm told driver support is now better than when I tried it. I wouldn't recommend it though, for the cost of a netbook you should be able to pick up an ibook or powerbook... Dan

Re: [MMUG] Re: Help - GoogleMail

Sorry, you're probably in for a flaky experience then. Gmail religiously keeps everything on the server anyway even if you access it via POP3. It's the whole point of GB's of free email storage. POP3 isn't really intended for use with several clients. You are at risk of messages disappearing or not getting synced to the other

Re: [MMUG] Netbooks running OS X

Hi Marc, I've installed OSX on a netbook, a Lenovo s10e but it's virtually the same hardware as any netbook. It works Ok but not perfect, the sleep function doesn't work 100% for a start. I sold mine and bought a mint second hand 12" powerbook. I prefer the powerbook, it has a better screen and keyboard, the battery last longer, it has a better graphics card and everything works 100%.
