Re: [MMUG] Re: Upgrading from Tiger to Leopard

Hi Tilly, many thanks for your detail and informative email. I believe now that I have a wrong software to install. The double sided DVD was not recognised and the two c.d. do not relate to any procedures. I started my iPad off by taking it to the apple Store in Solihull. Now I need to access my slide shows and photos

Re: Iphone 3GS sim only France etc

I wonder if the confusion arose from the early days of the iPhone (like when I got mine) and the only way to NOT have the Apple contract and a hefty monthly bill was to jailbreak the phone. I suppose now that it's easier to swap networks (ie unlock) you wouldn't need to jailbreak? Tilly

Re: Upgrading from Tiger to Leopard

Hi Javad, Just to say the obvious - make sure you have backed up before you install! You never know what might happen. For me that was more of a problem as I inadvertently allowed SuperDuper to overwrite my existing backups and stored videos on the iomega external disk I have, so i had to start again and that DID take several hours! Now have partitioned

Re: Upgrading from Tiger to Leopard

Hi Javad, I have the same problem as you - both my iMac G5 and PowerBook G4 were happily running 10.4.11 and I was shocked that the iPad couldn't function with them (so I know what you mean by 'curse'!). Luckily we had a PC in the house running XP which had iTunes on it so I have got the iPad going and so far I have not needed to update it, but

Re: [MMUG] Yummy new stuff

the atv looks like a pretty cool 'must have' for Xmas... for those with atv's now, the site's blurb states that movies bought via itunes can be played wirelessly etc. through the apple tv to your widescreen. firstly, is this limited to only itunes purchase, or does it play the digital contents that you get with blu-rays discs?, secondly will it play {illegal over there

Re: [MMUG] Yummy new stuff

It seems that you will be able to stream movies that are bought from iTunes, or your personal home movies/ripped content. Not too sure about copy protected digital copies, as I have never tried these myself. And no this cannot be used as a pvr, especially now as it doesn't even have it's own storage.

Re: [MMUG] Yummy new stuff

No idea, I did notice Steve was careful to say the new Ping feature works with 'iTunes purchases', meaning you can't recommend anything to friends that isn't on the store. Re:co

Re: [MMUG] Yummy new stuff

No, but it would be sweet if it could stream back to iTunes from a tv tuner in the USB port. R

Re: [MMUG] Yummy new stuff

The new apple tv has a USB slot so hopefully you will be able to stream from a connected External HD if the streaming doesn't work well. Does anybody know if it will be able stream 1080p content? Sent from my iPhone

Re: [MMUG] Yummy new stuff

Has everyone seen the back of the ATV, it has a USB port. I wonder if there will be an option to hook up a HD & use that for storage. It may just be for cameras until someone makes a hack for it :) The tech specs list it as 'Micro-USB (for service and support)' sounds a little ominous. I think it needs is the ability to plug in a TV tuner to record TV or is everyone else convinced by the 'rent everything' option?
