Having checked this out on a few websites, I've come to the conclusion that these OEM software offers are almost certainly illegal, and not to be touched with a bargepole... However I see that there is also some legitimate free imaging software called GIMP. Do any members have experience of using this, and how does it compare with the real thing (ie CS5)?
3rd Sep, 2010GIMP does loads of the same stuff, but the UI's different & many reckon it's pretty fiddly. The basic software is fairly basic but there're plugins & whatnot for all the more advanced things. There's a version about that looks a lot more like PS though - worth a look. 3rd Sep, 2010Following Ben's excellent demonstration of CS5 last week atAston Science Park, I've been checking out prices, etc. on the internet. Leaving aside the educational discounts there would appear to be some incredible prices being quoted out there. It appears that you can download the software for CS5 extended for around $109 from some sites - in fact I just found one quoting $69! - see
3rd Sep, 2010Is that like the clear cola drink? I can see the appeal of a slightly smaller lighter device over the iPad, but I wonder how all those apps designed for a mobile phone sized screen scale up. Could you even write Tab specific apps? I don't think there is an ecosystem to allow you to build two UI's for the different size devices.
3rd Sep, 2010Thank you all for that clarification, it's very helpful. Does that mean I can upgrade my 1st gen. 8gb model to OS3 with impunity, and it will still work on Orange PAYG?
3rd Sep, 2010Galaxy Tab anyone?
3rd Sep, 2010maybe because of the chinese conspiracy to 'buy' america from the UK? after all, nowhere in their declaration of independence does it state they declare independence from the King or the UK! j.k. the masonic overlords all but microsnot, so they try to keep apple over here!!
2nd Sep, 2010sorry should say 'buy' ...
2nd Sep, 2010Ok this worked fine but o2 refused as I only got my 3GS upgrade in March and they want you to stay with the phone a whole 12 months. You may have had an iphone O2 contract for years, but it's how long you have the device that counts. So I have done the My Europe bolt-on thing -£10 for 30dd. You get incoming for free and outgoing calls reduced from 30p to 24p/min. Texts are free in your allowance but 1 txt = 4 off the allowance. This is nothing new but It's probably just about worth it.
2nd Sep, 2010Considering most of it's made in China, how come it's cheaper in the US than in the UK? The only differences between the countries would be things like import duties & sales tax / VAT. Shipping costs would be pretty well the same I'd imagine. Matt
